Benefits of MSME / SSI / Udyogadhaar Registration


The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) have set up Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) to support Micro and Small Enterprises. The MSME registered enterprises are entitled to get loan without hassles of third party guarantee and collaterals under this scheme. Both new and existing MSMEs are covered under this scheme.
The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises have reserved items for exclusive manufacture in SSI Sector under the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951. This has been one of the important policy measures to promote this sector.
The objectives of reservation policy are
  • To ensure ensure increased production of consumer goods in small sector
  • Expand employment opportunities in small sector through setting up small industries
Financial assistance on reimbursement basis is provided under the International Cooperation Scheme to Associations, Registered Societies, Trusts, Central and State Government Organisations which are associated with MSME for deputation of MSME business delegations to other countries. These delegations explore new areas of MSME by participating in trade fairs, international exhibitions, buyer seller meets etc.
Corporate registered as MSME pays Income Tax at 25% as against 30% previously. The MSMEs are also allowed to carry forward Minimum Alternate Tax – MAT for 15 years instead of 10 years.
Enterprises registered under MSME Act are eligible to get subsidy for Bar Code Registration.
The MSMEs are eligible to avail subsidy on NSIC Performance and Credit Ratings by the Credit Rating Agencies.
The CLCSS Scheme aims at facilitating Technology Upgradation for Micro and Small Enterprises by providing 15% upto maximum Rs. 15 lacs on institutional finance for induction of well established and improved technology in approved sector.
Grant assistance to the extent of 25% of project cost for implementation of Energy Efficient Technology (EET) is provided subject to maximum of Rs. 10 lacs to the MSMEs.
Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises through its facility MSME Samadhaan – Delayed payment monitoring system helps the MSME to collect delayed payment with interest from the buyers by providing legal help.
MSMEs are eligible to get finance at lower interest rates as compared to other enterprises. There are certain set targets for lending to Micro and Small Enterprises where in the Banks are required to lend 40% of their total advances to Micro and Small Enterprises.
he MSMEs can avail benefit of waiver on Security Deposits to the extent of the monetary limit upto which it is registered. Further, MSMEs are also eligible to get Government tender sets for Free and exemption from payment of Earnest Money.
MSMEs are also eligible to get concessions on electricity bills on producing MSME Registration Certificate to the concerned electricity department
Registered MSMEs are given preference in procuring Government tenders. As mentioned above there are waiver of tender fees and earnest money also.
Registered MSMEs are eligible to get 50% discount on Trademark and Patent Application Fees.

There are no documents required as such for MSME Registration. Only basic details like Adhaar Card number of Proprietor, Director or Partner, Bank Account details, NIC Codes etc are required.
As per gazette notification dt 18-09-2015, UdyogAdhaar Registration has replaced the earlier system of Small Scale Industries – SSI Registration and EM-I/EM-II. In short, Udyogadhaar is same as MSME or SSI Registration.
Any entrepreneur who is having valid Adhaar Card is eligible to get MSME/Udyogadhaar Registration. Businesses other than Proprietorship can use one of the Partner/Director’s Adhar Card to get registered.
No, Government do not issue physical copy of MSME/Udyogadhaar Registration Certificate.

Enterprises can be broadly divided into two categories for MSME/Udyogadhaar Registration namely Manufacturers and Service Providers.

Enterprises engaged in manufacturing, production, processing or preservation of goods having investment upto Rs. 25 lacs are considered as Micro Enterprise.

Enterprises engaged in manufacturing, production, processing or preservation of goods having investment of more than Rs. 25 lacs but below Rs. 5 cr. are considered Small Enterprise.

Enterprises engaged in manufacturing, production, processing or preservation of goods having investment above Rs. 5 cr. But below Rs. 10 cr. are considered as Medium Enterprise.

Same way, for Service industry, enterprise engaged in providing services having investment upto Rs. 10 lacs are considered to be Micro Enterprise.

Enterprise providing services having investment above Rs. 10 lacs but upto Rs. 2 cr are considered to be Small Enterprise and,

Enterprise providing services having investments above Rs. 2 cr but below Rs. 5 cr are considered to be Medium Enterprises.

MSME/Udyogadhaar Registration Certificate is issued immediately on submission of application online. The certificate is sent to the applicant on his email.
